Traditional Ashtanga practice largely does not address the menstrual cycle at all: in its original transmission, women were not expected to practice during menstruation, and where a modified practice exists today, it is rarely built with any real anatomical or physiological reasoning — often reduced to “no inversions, no strong vinyasas,” with no positive alternative offered in their place. The result is a four/five-day gap in most women’s practice, repeated month after month, that neither traditional nor modern yoga has properly filled.
This course proposes a different model: a practice deliberately designed for each phase of the cycle rather than merely restricted around one of them. During menstruation, participants learn an adapted, restorative-leaning sequence — drawing on approaches developed for the menstrual phase by teachers such as Lois Steinberg — that supports rather than avoids the body: gentle supported forward folds and twists, pelvic and lower-back ease, and a clear rationale for why inversions and strong vinyasa are set aside during this window (venous and pelvic congestion, the traditional concern around retrograde flow, and simply what the nervous system needs during this phase) rather than treating the exclusion as an unexplained rule. In the days following menstruation, the practice shifts deliberately toward alignment work and a graded return to inversions, using the follicular phase’s typically greater energy availability and joint stability to rebuild strength and precision. The remaining phases of the cycle are placed in this same framework, so that a student’s Ashtanga practice becomes a four-week arc rather than an identical sequence repeated regardless of where she is in her cycle.
This is designed as a practical, teachable system for Ashtanga teachers who want to offer their female students something coherent — not an ad hoc set of exceptions, but a full cycle-synced practice with a clear rationale behind every adaptation.

I did a week's intensive course in ashtanga yoga shala Rishikesh, and I had the most amazing time. Thanks to Sachin's patience and kindness, I was able to make a lot of progress and correct my postures in ashtanga. For me it was a discovery of the Mysore style, which allowed me to progress at my own pace, and to acquire autonomy, which will make it easier for me to practice on my own. I was also able to learn more about yoga and its significations. I'm looking forward to coming back for a longer time Thank you 🙏🏻🐄 Edit: A year after i came back for a 300ttc I had and amazing time practicing and learning more about Anatomy, philosophy, méditation and pranayama Teachers are amazing (tks Sachin, liubov, vikas and nitin 🙏🏻) I'll bé back for sure for a third time 😺Posted on Google Irene ValecchiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Google claudia carboneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The teacher is very pretentious, acts as if he was some kind of celebrity teacher. He is not, just want to be, and that is in fact the opposite of what yoga is. Physic practice is good but not spiritual approach. Will not return and do not recommend.Posted on Google Aurelie ChevreauTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend it, as the theoretical part gives a much deeper understanding that you can immediately bring into the practice. Learning about biomechanics, philosophy, and the foundations of Ashtanga helped me understand the practice in a much more conscious and meaningful way. Sachin and Liubov are truly wonderful teachers. Their knowledge, dedication, and the way they hold the space make the experience very special. After the intensive, I decided to extend my stay and continue attending the Mysore classes, which says a lot about how inspiring the experience was for me. The shala itself is truly unique, with beautiful views and a very special energy that you can feel as soon as you enter. It’s one of those places that naturally invites you to keep practicing and going deeper.Posted on Google nina heinrichTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Grossartige Lehrer!! So tolle Stunden. Posted on Google JulietteTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have completed a 300hr training at this shale and my experience was amazing from start to finish. Even before I accomplished that I felt the energy in the shala was very friendly and social, really felt like a big community. I am somewhat of a beginner to ashtanga event though I have done previous training before I feel Sachin helped me see it from a totally different perspective. He gave great assisting also that helped me progress a lot in my practice. Alignment classes were really helpful and that went along with very detailed anatomy classes gave me a deep understanding of the practice for myself and for different types of bodies. Amazing mantra classes and philosophy classes. I enjoyed all of it and extremely gratefulPosted on Google Neetii PatelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently completed a 300-hour intensive training at Sachin Ji and Liubov Ji’s beautiful Ashtanga Yoga Shala in Rishikesh, and I am deeply grateful for the incredible guidance I received from my teachers. A special thank you to Sachin ji who played a major role in transforming my relationship with backbending. I came into the training with a lot of fear around backbends, but through his patient guidance, clear explanations, and constant encouragement, I was able to overcome that fear and make real progress. Sachin is humble, caring, and extremely knowledgeable, and his teaching has made a profound difference in my life. His style is both grounded and uplifting, and I will always be grateful for this experience. Liubov’s knowledge of anatomy is incredible, and she is exceptionally caring, warm, and always ready to help. This past month has been transformational for both my practice and my confidence. I highly recommend their classes and teachings.
